The vaccines that are available to Oklahomans are safe and effective. The FDA has rigorous scientific and regulatory processes in place that ensure the safety, effectiveness and quality of COVID-19 vaccines. Oklahomans should feel confident in receiving the vaccines.
"All Oklahomans will be eligible to schedule a vaccine appointment through the state, regardless of your priority group. No more screening for eligibility groups. No more need for personal contemplation about whether you are eligible or should get the vaccine," said Deputy Commissioner Keith Reed. "If you are over 16 and live in Oklahoma, you are eligible and should get vaccinated."
The first two mRNA vaccines in line for FDA authorization were tested in a diverse group of people. About 30% of U.S. participants were Hispanic, African American, Asian or Native American. About half were older adults. There were no significant safety concerns identified in these or any other groups. (CDC)
